I love Elizabeth Hand's work. Her mastery of craft is stunning. Every project is ambitious, and the ideas are always interesting and unique.

Therefore, though I'm leery of the current stampede of genre authors hopping aboard the YA train, I have to say I'm willing to give her new novel illyriaa try.

In this month's New Yorker, Gladwell reviews Free: The Future of a Radical Price, and incidentally demolishes the (deliberate?) misreading of the statement "Information wants to be free".

It's an excellent review. Worth a read.

And ironically, you can read it at The New Yorker's website without paying a thing.

I think this is one of the best shows on television. It hasn't done great in the ratings, but you can watch the whole season online here.
